HBKU TII language courses will start this month

The Hamad Bin Khalifa University Language Center (HBKU) has launched its fall 2021 language courses for the public.

Adults, youth and children can choose from 12 global languages with courses offered between September 19 and December 15. Classes will be taught online and in person at flexible times.
Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, German (in partnership with the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region), Portuguese and Spanish are open to all ages.
Additionally, adults can choose from Italian, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, English, and Korean. Classes start at the beginner stage and progress to more advanced levels. For students with prior learning, staff at the Language Center can help determine an appropriate starting point.
The Language Center is based at the Institute of Translation and Interpretation (TII), which is part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences of the HBKU.
Qualified language professionals follow the latest methodologies, using a variety of technology-enhanced learning formats and styles that focus on developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills.
The program is communication-oriented and students learn entirely in the foreign language, ensuring that all classes are an immersive and enriching cultural experience. The courses offered by the center reinforce its mission of providing world-class foreign language education that enables learners to acquire a new language within its cultural context.
Dr Nima Nazari, Director of the Language Center, said: “Our language courses will give you the skills to start communicating. Our courses have helped learners to master the language while learning to appreciate the culture and traditions associated with it. We are happy to offer classes on campus and continue our online delivery during the fall semester, and we encourage everyone to embark on a rewarding language journey.
Registration details for language courses are available at www.tii.qa/lc. Registration closes on September 16.
