Middlebury launches new English language school

Serving intermediate to advanced students, the 13th Middlebury Language School will operate year-round at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey beginning in 2022.

Harnessing over a century of immersive language teaching, Middlebury Language Schools will launch their English language school in June 2022. The new program, aimed at intermediate to advanced level students, will take place at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey, California.

The new school will offer eight- and 16-week sessions during the spring and fall semesters as well as an eight-week summer session. The first session begins on June 27.

“Like other language schools, students who enroll in the English language school are looking to make great strides in their language learning,” said school principal Rogers Walker. “Students read, write, listen and speak English 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They follow the Language Pledge to communicate only in the language they are studying. This proven immersive approach results in rapid progress for our students.

During the summer term, students can choose to live in on-campus housing at the Institute’s newly renovated Munras Residence in Monterey, just steps from campus and nearby grocery stores, restaurants, and the Del Mall. Mounted.

In addition to classes, students will participate in cultural and social activities including lectures, concerts, films, plays, dinners, wine seminars, parties, club meetings and picnics. picnics while exploring the city of Monterey, California, on the southern edge of Monterey Bay. All activities will be conducted in English, each designed to help build and strengthen vocabulary while developing cultural fluency.

The English language school welcomes students who have taken basic English courses. They need to know the English alphabet, basic English vocabulary, how to read and write basic English sentences, and how to have a simple conversation in English. The school will accommodate students at the lower-intermediate, intermediate, upper-intermediate and advanced levels.

“Our program is ideal for undergraduate and graduate students who want to improve their English proficiency,” says Walker. “It’s also a great option for working professionals whose careers could benefit from improved language skills.”

The English language school is now accepting applications for summer and fall sessions. The summer application deadline is May 13. Students do not need to take the TOEFL to apply.
