* The language center of the Institute of Translation and Interpretation of HBKU opens registrations for spring courses
In order to promote a culture of learning and to celebrate languages ââin the wider community, the Institute of Translation and Interpretation (TII), which is part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) of the Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), opened registration for its Language Course in spring 2022, QNA reported.
The courses reinforce TII’s mission to provide world-class foreign language education that enables learners to acquire a new language in a natural setting.
TII currently offers 12 languages ââfor adults: Arabic, English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese, Russian and Turkish, and six for children and youth: Arabic, French, Spanish, German, Mandarin Chinese , and Portuguese. Students unsure of their levels will be assigned an appropriate language proficiency level based on placement tests. Children will have the opportunity to practice the language of their choice through structured lessons that integrate various activities, such as arts and crafts, theater, games and music. Adult classes will last 11 weeks, while children’s classes will last 14 Saturdays.
Dr Nima Nazari, Assistant Professor at CHSS and Director of the TII Language Center, said: âWe welcome people of all ages and abilities. We ensure that students are immersed in a learning experience that is both effective and engaging. Our instructors are native or close-native speakers who use cutting-edge methodologies and technologies to accelerate students towards their goals. Multilingualism is a great asset and is essential for being able to function in today’s global economy. A new language can help boost professional skills, politics and business success. “
Classes are led by qualified instructors with prior experience in teaching children and adults and will run at flexible times throughout the week.
